Okay so I know you're going to laugh at the video, but it's just me sharing what works for me, so be kind ;-) As you know, I make lots and lots of cookies. I'm no expert by any means, but I have fun with what I do and that's what really matters, right?
So I had this great plan of asking you what rolling pin that you think I use and then creating this video. I shared the picture of all my rolling pins and then collected data on the consensus and then I made the video and what happened? You know it... my granddaughter was born 3 1/2 weeks early! So the video had to wait. Then we ran into problems that the video was only showing a black screen and my baby girl (new mommy) had to try to fix it by replacing drivers and that took some time too. So anyhoo the video is much later than expected.
So first decide which rolling pin you think that I use:
then enjoy the tutorial video. On the bottom right side of the video, it says YouTube. If you click on that, you can watch it directly from YouTube and it shows much larger for easier viewing if you prefer.
If you haven't already entered the give-away, make sure to check it out here. One lucky winner will win THREE copper cookie cutters from eCrandal and for those that aren't cookie decorators or even if you are, there is a second give-away for cookies from Cristin's Cookies. The give-away ends on Monday, August 27th. And did I mention that you can enter the give-away EVERY DAY?!
And just in case you haven't heard, I'm a GRANDMA! I'm ALMOST as in love with this tiny little angel as I am with my own angel that made me into a grandma! She is the sweetest little thing you can imagine. Her name is Abigail Cristin and I'm in love...
I'm having so much fun with this little sweetie. Thanks everyone for the well-wishes! I made cookies to match all of her little outfits, so many more to come :-)
Cookies and milk blog background for today:
You are one proud grandma... love it!
ReplyDeleteYou're so cute Cristin. Who woulda thunk the little green rolling pin was THE one! I love Abigail's "All I need is Grandma" outfit too. <3
ReplyDeleteAbigail Cristin is ADORABLE! Love her outfit too! Thanks for the small rolling tip. I am going to try using my granddaughters rolling pin tomorrow and do one cookie at a time and see if it makes a difference. Do you do that when you have several dozen to do? Does it take longer? or is the trade off of a softer cookie much more valuable? Seems like I answered my own question. HA!
ReplyDeleteThank you Patti. Yes, I roll ALL my cookies this way and have been doing it this way for a couple years now. I almost always make 100-120 cookies every single time I bake. I don't think I've ever baked a regular dozen cookies ever! I don't know if it takes longer to do it this way, it would make sense that it probably does, but it's the only way that my weak hands can do it and yes, the taste is a deciding factor always :-)
DeleteAbigail is adorable and looking mighty healthy! I watched your video and have to say that I'm astounded that your roll out one cookie at a time, especially knowing how many cookies you bake and decorate! You have a lot more patience than I will ever have :)
ReplyDeleteGreat video, Cristin! Abigail is ADORABLE!!
ReplyDeleteHi Cristin. Thanks for the video tutorial. Where can I purchase that big black spatula? Also what is that black surface/board you are rolling your dough out on? Where can I buy that as well? Thanks. Kathy
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy, I think I got the large black spatula at Bed, Bath & Beyond. They have a huge selection of spatulas and that is my favorite. As far as where I roll my cookie dough, I always use my card table specific to baking. It's just a regular card table. Then I transfer the cookies to my Silpat sheets in the cookie baking sheet pans. I hope that helps!
