I have a friend coming over tomorrow. I'm nervous as can be! I haven't met her and I completely idolize her. I can't tell you how nervous I am, I mean I even thought of canceling! What a wimp huh! I can teach a karate class full of students. I have a ton of friends that I enjoy immensely. The problem is that I seriously idolize this gal and she sent me an email saying that she wants to meet me ( me ?! ), so I'm just super beyond nervous. I also hate hosting. Isn't that funny. The gal that has huge family parties constantly hates hosting. I never know what to feed people since I don't eat "normal". Being vegetarian AND a picky eater makes it difficult to feed others. Ok, have I complained enough yet? On this rainbow cookie day with a new rainbow background and here I am complaining. I should make some Eeyore cookies... yep I should. Ok I'm better now.
I hope y'all had a fun St. Patrick's Day. I made a bunch of cookies and a new St. Patty's day blog background. I hope you got to see them. I wish I could get the background to STAY with those specific cookies, but it doesn't work that way and I'm loving learning this new skill.
In addition to the St. Patrick's Day cookies, I made some rainbow cookies. Lots of rainbow cookies.
To make these rainbow cookies, I bought the cutter from CopperGifts.com after drooling over it for a very long time and then I used my glaze icing to first make the clouds and then I let them sit for a very long time (til the next day) so that the colors wouldn't bleed with the clouds. And while I slept, I stressed over getting the lines of the rainbow right and fitting all the colors in. In the morning I decided to make this rainbow to help me out. If you want to make rainbows too and use this guide, click on the picture below to download and print your own.
So with my handy guide, I used edible markers to draw lines to guide my icing and make my life a little easier. I used my rainbow colors of icing and did the first color, the last color and the middle color and then I let them dry a whole long time before adding in the last two colors.
Then I added in swirls on the clouds and sanding sugar too.
I also made one with outline to see what I thought of that. I like both. I love that you don't have to worry about colors bleeding with an outline, but in the end, I decided that for rainbows, I like the one without the outline best.
I also made this type of cloud & rainbow. Can you guess what cookie cutter I used? I'm not going to tell you, you have to guess....
Have a rainbow type of day. I'm very glad I'm not out on the bike today. It's a BLUSTERY day!
Lots more cookies to come...
and for those that missed the background of these fun rainbow cookies...

Your rainbows look perfect - and my guess is you used the popcorn container cookie cutter to make the last cookie. Cute idea!
ReplyDeleteYou got it Anne! Popcorn cookie cutter it was!
DeleteThese are so adorable Cristin! They make me feel so happy looking at them and I can only imagine how happy I would be to EAT one :D I'm sure this friend of yours is just as nervous and excited as you are and you're going to have a ball! :D I absolutely adore you!
ReplyDeleteI jsut love your rainbows.....and I'm sure that by the time you catch up with these, you'll have enjoyed your new company and wondered "why" you were so nervous? Just be your pinky-self and you have nothing to be concerned about! Blessings, Donna B,
ReplyDeleteOh, I just know you'll have a great time - if not, you can always use those karate skills! (Wink) :)
ReplyDeleteI understand your nervousness but try not to be. She will love you just like we do. Great rainbow cookies!
ReplyDeleteRelax and have fun! You already have something in common!!!
ReplyDeleteCristin, You did a GREAT job with the interview! It was so fun getting to know you better:) To know you is to love you, right? I learned a lot from you...Such a genius idea to use a turntable for the cookies, and I am going to get right on it. I also noticed that you outline many of your cookies in black (duh!) and I really like that look. YOU were a wonderful first episode for Arty McGoo! :)
ReplyDeleteAww thanks so much Sue! Liz should have swung by and picked you up too. We could have a gals day all together! That would be SOOO fun! I just started outlining most of my cookies this past year and I love the definition since I can't get definition with glaze icing. I hope to get to know YOU on a future episode of Arty McGoo's Mixing It Up! :-)
