Last week a bunch of my cookie decorating friends from across the country surprised me with a virtual grand-baby shower! I had no idea that they were in kahooots (is that a word?) together. Last Saturday I woke up to a whole bunch of pictures of gorgeous cookies that my friends made using children's books as their inspiration. As soon as I figured out what they were up to, I closed my internet down knowing that it would make me cry at their incredible thoughtfulness and love. I then went to my son's Eagle Scout Court of Honor (which was emotional enough!) and when I came home, there was a big box on my doorstop that the mail carrier had delivered. Inside the box was almost 20 children's books that my friends went out and purchased and wrote sweet little notes for my soon-to-be grand-daughter, Abigail!
My daughter and I sat down and opened all the brightly wrapped gifts (all in pink & lime green) and together we read every single book that evening and all their wonderful notes. Isn't that absolutely amazing that they did this?! I've never met a single one of these women, but they've touched my heart more than words can say.
We were all going to do a cookie swap together, but we had to reschedule the swap for another time. I had a plan of making special princess cookies, so I went ahead and made them anyway to thank my wonderful friends for their incredible kindness. I bought the clipart of this adorable princess from Pixel Paper Prints on Etsy and I made some minor changes to use it as inspiration to make her into a cookie. I love her. Can you guess which one is my favorite?
Well as it turned out, one of my friends, Kim of The Cookie Puzzle, told us of a need for cookies to help with a charitable fundraiser. On July 28th the moms at Cookies for iPads Giving Children With Autism a Voice, will be hosting a huge bake sale fundraiser to raise money to give iPads to children with autism to help them to learn to speak. So now all my princess cookies will be a part of a wonderful purpose and hopefully help to make a difference in their fundraising efforts.
These princess cookies seriously made me squeal with delight.
and packaged and ready to go help with the bake sale:
