My Ultimate Dream Car & Cookie Cutter Too

My ultimate dream car. 9 years ago I saw a pink VW Beetle while I was driving to a big cycling event. Ever since that day, I've dreamed of my very own pink VW Beetle with my pink bicycle on the back. I've dreamed of it, I've wished for it, I've hounded hubby for it and I've saved for it. For 9 years. The only problem was that my car was perfectly fine. I had a 10-year old Honda CRV and it worked fine. It got me where I needed to go. That car probably could have run another 10 years. But I still wanted my dream car. Hubby has it pretty easy for the most part. I'm happy and grateful with what I have. I'm not a shopper. I'm a hard worker. I'm a neat freak and I bake lots of cookies. I talked about that dream car somewhat often, but not annoyingly so ;) Well one day hubby said lets go test drive it and make sure you like it. Um, OK! We didn't buy it that day, but it did make me want it even more. I think it probably worked the opposite of hubby's plan ;) On May 31st he decided he wanted us to buy the car. Out of the blue. We went to the dealer and stayed several hours, but didn't get the deal that hubby wanted. We left. Sad day, but I'm pretty good at believing things happen for a reason, so I didn't push the issue. I think hubby wanted to be the hero. He told me to call the dealer the next day and say we'll pay X amount if they want to make it happen. I pretty much bought the car over the phone. The sales guy was on vacation, but another guy came into the office to help finalize the deal. This guy was better. No ego to butt heads with hubby's ego. I got to drive away with my pretty VW Beetle... but.... there was something wrong. Can you guess what it is?

Yep. It was white. They don't actually make pink VW Beetles. You have to have them painted. So on June 1st, we bought my beautiful white VW Beetle and I started saving all my pennies. It took a few months, but I finally saved enough to have the car WRAPPED. With a wrap, you can do anything your heart dreams up. A paint job was more expensive and most places aren't willing to do it on a beautiful new factory finish car. So I decided to go with a car wrap. Since I was paying for it myself, I designed it... and I kept it a secret. Hubby knew it would be pink, but he didn't know anything else til we picked up the car. I went to King of Wraps in San Jose. It took longer than I expected, but it was worth the wait and I had two trips and a week in between so it wasn't that much time of trying to figure out how to get around without a car. I was SO excited to pick up my car and I've had so much fun with it. I'm a home girl, so I don't even drive all that often. I probably ride my bike more miles than I drive, but every time I drive my pretty pink car, I can't help but smile. I finally got my dream car!

I started by designing my cookie cutter. Convertible car cookie cutter available HERE
 and outlined my design
after I filled in the sections with my colored icing, I added some flowers onto the bottom of each car.

When the car wasn't ready, I gave away the first batch of my convertible cookies and when the car was closer to being ready, I made another set of cookies. This time I decided to use a pink outline for the car. I'm not sure which I like better.
 Outlined in pink this time

I think I'll be making these convertible car cookies a lot. I just love them!
Are you ready to see the real thing? This is the happy night that we bought my VW Beetle. Hubby thought I was so happy that we wouldn't need to paint it pink ;)
and it's even cuter with my bike on the back
but then... I made it really mine with my own unique design
flower wheel detail
 glove compartment flower detail
inside dash (before they added the flower detail)
back of car with my little bit of advertising
the other side of my pretty car
So yes, this is what happy looks like

So tell me, what is YOUR dream car?

    1. Thank you so much Marti and it's so great to hear from you!!! I thought of you when I was at CookieCon a couple weeks ago. The little plushie flower is the official VW Beetle flower and I bought it on Ebay and I bought the cute little plastic flower vase holder on Ebay too. It sticks onto the dashboard through suction. The older versions of Beetles (before 2012) came with a little flower vase implemented into the car design, but the newer models don't have that, so I found one on Ebay. If you meant the flower decal that is on the pink glove compartment, that is part of the vinyl wrap. The car is "wrapped" instead of painted. Both the pink color on the car and the flowers are all vinyl wraps. Think of the food trucks that have fun designs on them, those are car wraps. They are doing them now on cars too. It is vinyl that is heat-sealed onto the car. They last roughly 5-8 years or more and can be professionally taken off at any time and the factory finish paint job remains unharmed. It was a fun and less expensive way of getting my dream pink car :) I'm loving it so much!
