Lifeguard Cookies

Did I tell you that my super cool 17-year old son is a lifeguard? While he's on summer break from school, he is working this summer as a lifeguard. I was really wanting to make lifeguard cookies and so I finally found a small bit of time and baked them. The cool thing is that while I was wondering what we were going to do with all these cookies, my son told me that he is going to a potluck event this weekend at work for all the lifeguards... perfect!
Here they are all bagged with matching clip-art
My daughter and I are leaving Saturday morning for a weekend trip to participate in the LiveStrong Challenge. We are hoping to complete 100-miles of cycling in the very hot area of Davis. While we are pushing against obstacles and self-doubt, we will remember that what we will go through is nothing compared to the pain that Cancer patients go through. We do this in memory of my dad, Ed Ducey. You can see the video of our ride last year here (turn your speakers up):
When you get up Sunday morning, please say a quick prayer for safety at the LiveStrong Challenge and for a cure against Cancer. I've been a bundle of emotions all week. Thanks for your support!

  1. Your lifeguard cookies are just awesome! So are you for baking them for your son and for doing this 100 mile bike challenge in memory of your Dad. I can imagine how emotional the ride is and how the emotions can boil over at the finish line where I know the spirit of your Dad, who was with you every mile will be there to hug you from Heaven. Best wishes for a wonderful and safe weekend.

  2. Aww thank you so much Paula. You just have the biggest heart of anyone I know. We had a wonderful LiveStrong Challenge and my daughter and I crossed the finish line together holding hands. I cried a few times during the ride, but this was the first time in 4 years of doing this event, that I didn't sob across the finish line. It was so special to do this event with my daughter and we enjoyed such a wonderful bonding day in memory of my dad/her grampa. You're so sweet to have thought of me. I hope you had an incredible birthday!
