Bubbles for Summer Fun and 5,000 Fan GIVE-AWAY Celebration

Remember when your kids were little and cute and played all the time with no concerns? Remember how they blew bubbles into the summer breeze and life was easy and carefree? Yaa me too. So when my youngest came home for the summer from his first year away at college, I threw him a welcome home party. I thought about all the different fun possibilities of cookies and decided on BUBBLES. Feeling a little nostalgic huh ...

Bubbles Cookie Cutters Available HERE

Download Cookie Bag Toppers HERE
I made a set of cookie cutters for this fun project. A bottle of bubbles, a bubble wand, and a couple of different bubbles. I've had a lot of people ask me for this cookie cutter set and I've finally made it available for you too. You can get the cookie cutters for this bubble blowing set HERE

The top is filled in with purple because I almost forgot to get a photo of these cookies outlined for you. As always, you can right click on the photo and save it to use for your own use in decorating your cookies.

I had A LOT of fun with this set and it was really fun to package the set all together in one cookie bag.

I made some cookie tags for you too (without Cristin's Cookies on it). You can download them for your own use here or by clicking on the photo below.

Nick is a really well adjusted and responsible kid, but he faced his share of challenges away at his first year of college. Nick got Mono and was horribly sick for a couple months, even losing almost 30 pounds during finals. His roommate was expelled and Nick was alone for half the school year. Nick has to pay 1/3 of his tuition (our choice to make sure he is personally invested in his education) and one of his classes turned out to be too difficult to handle with Mono and he had to re-take the class. Did you know that we learn and grow the most when life gives us challenges to overcome?
But there were lots of positives too. Nick learned that he was exactly right at choosing his major because he absolutely loves his Engineering classes and is in the top 10% of the class. He learned how to juggle school work, new friends, extra curricular activities and a long distance girlfriend. And his mom got really good at Skype when she was missing her baby boy ;-)
So for my Nicky, bubble blowing cookies were a fun choice for his welcome home cookies.
Last week my little Cristin's Cookies Facebook page hit the very exciting mark of having 5,000 fans! I am so incredibly honored that 5,000 of you want to see my cookies and enjoy my ramblings. I appreciate each of you so very much. I love to make cookies and new designs and it's so much more fun having you join me on this journey! So I'm doing a give-away. Go to this Rafflecopter app to access the give-away for 3 free cookie cutters OR 8 Cristin's large COOKIES. I haven't had any extra cookies all summer because you know, that boy is home from college ;-) but I promise to hide a few of them just for the give-away winner.

Enter the give-away through this Rafflecopter app:

I hope you're all enjoying your summer and time with your children. It all goes so very fast.

  2. My youngest daughter had mono her Freshman year of college also! It was tough. I told her if she made it through that year, the rest would be a piece of cake. It wasn't exactly a piece of cake but she graduated with a BSN in May.

    1. Kathy, glad your daughter made it through okay. It was really scary seeing Nick so very thin and lifeless. Thankfully he got to come home for Christmas vacation and he was home for a long break and we were able to get him completely well again before sending him back to college.

    2. Oh, Cristin, it's so hard to see our kids sick at any age. I remember crying and telling my husband that I either had to go bring her home or move into her dorm room to take care of her. Of course I was being totally irrational, and luckily she was only an hour away so she could come home for the weekends so she could sleep in her own bed, get some rest and let momma take care of her, but it was a tough year for both of us. I'm so happy Nick survived his first year of college. It's been fun watching his journey through your blog here. I can tell you've raised a wonderful young man.

    3. Thanks so much Kathy. Yes, Mono was really rough. I've heard so many people say how it has affected their kids or even how they remember having it as a child. I think we were really lucky and it was nice to have him home to get him well during the holidays. My husband was actually ready to not let him go back after seeing how sick he was!

P.S. I just love the way you write. What a sweet post about your son. I'm glad he's home healthy and happy. My son starts his senior year of high school this fall, and I'm SO not ready for him to leave for college! Whaaaa! :(

    1. Oh Melody, I don't envy you. The senior year is by far the busiest year for the child AND the parent. All the college apps and the amount of mail of the colleges wooing the kids and trying to stay on top of all the deadlines. College will be a piece of cake after senior year at high school ;-)

    1. It's SO hard when they go away to college. I think I cried all of senior year in anticipation of him leaving. It doesn't help that he was the last one at home too. You'll get through it though Felicia and with grandbaby #1 that helps a lot!

    1. Oh Lisa, I'd LOVE to see your tiara cookies and bee cookies! I made myself a tiara cookie cutter from your design just yesterday, but haven't made the cookies yet and haven't offered the cutter in my shop yet. If you're on Facebook, you can post to my cookie page: www.facebook.com/cristinscookies If you don't use Facebook, you can send them to me in email: cristinscookies@gmail.com. You can also attach a photo when you leave feedback on my Etsy shop, but that just shows me a very small photo I think and it doesn't notify me when it's there. I'm excited to see your cookies Lisa!

I had mono when I was 10 years old (back in the 60s) and missed almost 2 months of school. It was in the spring and I can remember all my friends would be outside playing after school but I was stuck inside. I watched a lot of Jeopardy and I Love Lucy, among other shows, on our black and white TV!
