Slow Poke Smelling The Flowers

Do you stop to smell the flowers? I'm ashamed to admit that I don't. I'm a list gal. I'm always on a mission. Even when I'm on a super long bike ride, my cycling buddies remind me to look around and enjoy the scenery. I'm much better about it than I used to be though. Today I'm working on cookies that are NOT my style. You know, the pink and bright colors and unicorns and happy things ;-) that's my style. So the cookies I'm working on today are a stretch for me. But the ones I'm going to show you today are from yesterday and I love them. They ARE me. Cute little turtles that are stopping to smell the flowers.

I started by making a cute little turtle cookie cutter and leaving enough room for a flower on her head. I was going to name her Teresa the Turtle, but a quick question out on Facebook came up with lots of ideas for names. I decided to go with customer April's suggestion of Tinka the Turtle. You can get your cute Turtle cookie cutter HERE
Then I outlined the design, again keeping enough room because i wanted a flower on her cute little head. Notice that I also left some room between her shell and her neck. I wanted it to look like her little head was looking up to smell the flowers.
They are cute by themselves, but...
even cuter with flowers
That cute little flower on her head came from DecorationDreamz4U Etsy shop. Carol makes the pretty royal icing flowers that I don't have the ability to make and she ships them super quick too. Can you tell I have a bit of an obsession with royal icing flowers?
So I needed to make a mini flower cookie cutter. You know me, I don't do minis. I really like big cookies, but I thought they would be fun as accent cookies. I think I made the right decision ;-) So I made a small 2" flower with 8 petals on it.

and then I made a whole bunch of flowers
Because you know, turtles are slow-pokes anyway so they might as well stop to smell the flowers
and then I packaged up the cookies WITH the cute minis. I used my heat sealer to close up the turtle and then put the minis in and used the heat sealer again to keep them in place. Pretty fun huh! Oh and I made some cute turtle cookie tags and shared them for you too just click here to download and personalize them for your own turtle cookies
and guess who was my inspiration? That stinkin adorable cutie patootie Abigail!
Now back to those cookies that are not quite by style, but very interesting. Have an AWESOME weekend and don't forget to stop and smell the flowers!
