More Bug Cookies and Cookie Cutters For Aidan's Birthday

You know how you get home from a long trip at 11:30 at night and the dishes are done and your bags are unpacked and laundry is done and house is clean and cookie dough is made for your next cookie projects and your Christmas shopping is done and gifts are wrapped and your son is arriving tonight from college and you're completely ready and at peace? Yaa me neither! ;-) Yesterday I ran around the house getting everything unpacked and 6 loads of laundry done and dishes and cleaning so much that my pedometer said I stepped over 7,000 steps just inside my house cleaning! It was great to get away. I really, really needed it. But I also missed home and missed my regular schedule. I'm such a complete work-aholic, but my friend really didn't let me work much, so that was very different for me. Now I'm back and getting caught up again. There's no place like home, there's no place like home...

I don't think we have lightning bugs here in California, but he's just so cute that I had to make him too. Leonard the Lightning Bug cookie cutter available HERE

I filled the bottom section with yellow icing and then I poured yellow sanding sugar over it while it was still wet so that the lightning bug could "light up"

I filled the eyes with black icing and while it was wet, I used a tiny white candy for the pupil.

and I used my front-facing ladybug cookie cutter and gave her big eyes and named him Lance the Ladybug. Cookie cutter available HERE

Do you remember Wiggles the Spider from my Halloween collection? Now he has some bigger eyes to go with the bug collection. Cookie cutter available HERE

and then you need a bug catcher for all these bugs. I named him Zane after my friend's son. Cookie cutter available HERE
