I Love Gingers

I love cookies, but my most favorite is GINGERBREAD! I could eat gingerbread cookies every moment of the day, if only my waist would allow it ;) My son's favorite is gingerbread too. He comes home from college next week and I plan on having huge gingerbread boy cookies baked and ready for us to decorate together. I think that will be such a fun way to start off the holiday season! He was supposed to be coming home this Monday, but it turns out that one of his final exams will keep him at school a little longer, so now we are expecting him on Wednesday instead. He's doing really well in school, but one of the classes - Probability and Statistics is kicking his butt. So if you're the praying type, please send along a prayer for a successful final in that class. If all goes as planned, he should be graduating with his Engineering degree in May. I can't believe how fast these 4 years have gone! The first ornament that I embroidered for my grandkids felt tree was a gingerbread girl with a candy cane. So I wanted to make some fun cookies that would be similar.

I started by making a gingerbread girl with a big bow and a yummy candy cane. I named her Ginger. You can get the cookie cutter HERE
I always like to outline my designs in black for two reasons. One is that I love the way it makes the design pop or stand out and the other is that it makes it easy for others to utilize the design whether they choose to outline or not. It is easy to pop the tutorial card into my Kopykake projector or to download it onto my iPad for use with my Pico projector. See at the top of each blog post (highlighted in yellow) to download the tutorial cards for your own use with these cutters.
I gave her sparkling sanding sugar on her bow. I flooded the rest of the cookie and let it dry and then lastly I did the bow and used a new paint brush to brush away the excess sugar.
Gingerbread makes me drool! I'm excited to make some more next week when my son is home from college!
and this is the little gingerbread girl ornament that I embroidered. She was my very first ornament on my advent tree.
This is my felt advent tree. I put each design on tan felt so that it could resemble a cookie tree. The grandbabies came over yesterday and had so much fun taking out the ornaments from the pockets and hanging them on the buttons. I have to get busy in finishing up the rest of them before the grandbabies come back!
 Memory making.
What are some Christmas traditions that you love to share with your family?
