You're A Mean One

Did you make New Year goals? I did, but instead I caught the flu bug that's been going around. All my plans have gone out the window. On top of that, my daughter, son-in-law and grandbabies bought a new house and on Saturday they moved 3 hours away. I used to be able to ride my bike to go see them. Then on Sunday my son left for college and on Monday my husband left for a new job out of state. It's been a weird start to the new year to say the least. The good news is that these are all amazing opportunities for each of them. My daughter and her family have been living in 400 square feet - with 4 people and 2 dogs and next month there will be another baby. So they needed to move to be able to afford a house. Everything is just too expensive in the Bay Area. My son is doing excellent in college and while I miss him terribly, I know he is right where he's meant to be. My husband has worked for the same company for 35 years. The new job opportunity is with the same company, but he's part of a special task force with a new opportunity and he's really excited for a new challenge. The job is for one year and he'll be traveling back and forth rather than us having to move. I'm a very independent person, so I know I'll be okay with all this, but it's a lot all at once and being sick doesn't help. I can breathe a little easier today through the congestion, so I'm hoping to be coming through the fog and I'll have an official start to the new year once my body is back to health and strength. So far it seems the biggest positive to hubby's relocation is that my house is staying super clean and the biggest negative so far is that I have to clean up dog poop which used to be my hubby's responsibility! I made these cookies and they were my most favorite of the Christmas season. Looking back, they are kind of fitting ;)

This is the Mean Hand cookie cutter. They were very simple cookies to decorate which is always nice and I just love how fun they were and how they came out. You can get the mean hand cookie cutter HERE

I didn't seem to get many photos during Christmas, but here's one of Nick with some chocolate crinkle cookies that he and I made together.
and here's the special gift I got for Christmas. Yes, hubby got me a vacuum, but it's really what I wanted, or else, yes, he'd be in big trouble ;)
What did you get for Christmas?
